Be Inspired. Coming up at MPL! Thursday, June 1, 2023.

Hi [First Name],

Message from Kanta Kapoor

Hi everyone,

This year, we have decided to celebrate Summer of Pride at MPL as an extension of Pride Month, which reflects our library's values and the importance of inclusivity and diversity within our spaces.

We strive to create an environment that welcomes everyone, regardless of background, identity, or orientation. Summer of Pride is an opportunity to honour and support our 2SLGBTQIA+  community members and reaffirm our commitment to their inclusion and representation.

At MPL, we believe in the power of stories and recognize that every person's story is unique and valuable, and we are dedicated to amplifying diverse voices, experiences, and perspectives. Our collections, programs, and events aim to showcase 2SLGBTQIA+ literature, history, and culture, fostering empathy and understanding among all library users.

During Summer of Pride, we have organized events and displays highlighting 2SLGBTQIA+ authors and resources. We invite you to explore these offerings, engage in meaningful conversations, and celebrate the diverse 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Let us come together to learn, grow, and appreciate the remarkable contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals throughout history and in our present time.

As we continue to evolve and learn, we recognize that Summer of Pride is not just a moment of celebration but a reminder of the ongoing work needed to achieve true equality and acceptance for all. We pledge to remain vigilant in promoting inclusivity, challenging discrimination, and advocating for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights.

Thank you for being part of our library community, and thank you to our 2SLGBTQIA+ community members for sharing your stories, wisdom, and courage with us. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world.

Kanta Kapoor,

Interim – Chief Librarian
