Milton Public Library
A Message from Mark Williams
Hi everyone,
As the summer draws to a close, so does our Summer Reading Club which, again this year, was hosted through the Beanstack app. Congratulations to everyone who participated.
With students ramping up for back-to-school, I also wanted to remind you of our Brainfuse app which provides access to online tutors who provide ongoing support tailored to Ontario’s curriculum, free with a Milton Public Library card. For further details check out our e-resources page.

And as we head into the fall, we have some exciting events to look forward to. We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting New York Times bestselling author Ann Cleeves, who wrote numerous series including Vera, Shetland, and Two Rivers! If you’ve read her books or watched the TV shows based on her novels, you don’t want to miss her discussing the latest book in the Vera Stanhope series, "The Rising Tide", in this engaging virtual event. We will also have discounted copies of "The Rising Tide" for sale at all MPL branches starting this month. Click here to register and read on for all that’s in store this month.

On a final note, all three branches of Milton Public Library will be closed on September 30th in recognition of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. As a first step in ensuring that the tragic history and ongoing legacy of residential schools are never forgotten, Milton Public Library will be providing staff with the opportunity for quiet reflection to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools on this federal statutory holiday. We hope you will join us in taking the opportunity to learn more about this painful chapter in the story of Canada with a view to building relationships with Indigenous communities.

Thanks,

Mark Williams, Chief Librarian
